Celebrate real-life heroes
Independence Day is a great time to talk to children about our history, freedom fighters and how we got our freedom. It is a wonderful way to remember the leaders who gave us the India we cherish. But have you thought about the heroes who stand by us every day? Yes, our soldiers who relentlessly protect our country. These are the men of steel who have given their everything to keep our country safe. With acts of supreme and selfless bravery, they have won the country’s highest wartime gallantry award. But how well do you know them?
The National Book Trust has a wonderful series that shows children the lives of Indian soldiers. The series is called the Veergatha series and it has 5 new illustrated books that featuring 5 of independent India’s war heroes, who’ve also been awarded the Param Vir Chakra.
