Summer holidays generally keep children away from healthy food.
There is a multicolored, loaded with nutrients, soothing and of course yummy in the tummy solution–a smoothie. It is so easy to make that kids will love to try their hands on it. Base of milk, yogurt or ice, loaded with raw fruits and veggies, it surely makes a wholesome snack for picky eaters. Smoothies can be made in no time and thus these are mommies’ favorite too.
Here are a few healthy and nutritious smoothies that you can make easily at home with your little munchkins
• Strawberry Smoothie
Abundant in fiber and antioxidants, delicious and accompanies health benefits along with it! Blend in 10-12 fresh strawberries, 2 tablespoons of yogurt, half cup milk, crushed ice and a teaspoon of vanilla ice-cream. Decorate the jar with sliced strawberry and throw in few chopped almonds. Serve chill.
• Chocolate oatmeal Smoothie
Give your kids favorite chocolate a healthy twist. It is filling and perfect for a quick breakfast. Pour a cup of almond milk with some crushed ice into a blender. Add half banana, 2 tablespoon of plain Greek yogurt, 1 small cup of rolled oats and cocoa powder or melted chocolate as per taste. Blend and serve.
• Raspberry, Choco chips and Banana Smoothie
Brimming with proteins to enhance the immune system, this smoothie is an alternative to the regular strawberry and banana combo. All you need to do is mix a frozen banana, 1 cup fresh raspberries, 1 cup chocolate milk, a few ice cubes in the blender. Serve chill topped up with hemp seeds and chopped raspberries or choco chips to lure the kids.
• Pineapple Coconut Smoothie
Creamy and rich in taste, it is a perfect partner for kid’s splash parties in summer. Combine pineapple pieces, ice cubes, coconut milk, few tender coconut pieces, spoon of yogurt (optional). Blend smooth and serve.
• Blueberry Yoghurt Smoothie
A major source of calcium, augmented antioxidants and rich in Vitamin C, this is a delicious way to delight the kids. Include low fat vanilla yogurt, a cup of chilled blueberries, half a cup of cold milk and blend smooth. Serve immediately.
• Kale Banana Flax Smoothie
Any green smoothie has plenty of health benefits in it. These are hydrating in summers and help to keep the energy levels up. Combine chopped Kale, almond milk, a frozen banana and flax seeds in a blender. Blend well and serve with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream and some roasted nuts on top.
• Spinach Apple Smoothie
Refreshing, juicy and not so thick smoothie is definitely a healthy option. You may add more fiber with flax seeds while blending. Mix in spinach, apple and crushed ice. Blend smooth and serve chill.
Team up different seasonal fruits, fresh leafy vegetables and nuts to make your smoothie healthy and delicious. Pears, avocados and bananas are huge hit among kids and add color to these delicious drinks. Unlike juices, smoothies do not strain the fiber resource.
