Childhood is a short span and early shildhood is even shorter. Do you want to increase ROI of your time invested for your child. Excellent and eye opening learning and myth busting sessions, helping parents engage with children spending high quality time. And reversing the learning direction from "Parent to Child" to "Child to Parent". Most importantly, it can start as early as during pregnancy itself.Six sessions, each on Sunday for 3:30 hrs, starting Sunday 25th of Jun, 2017. This workshop focuses on supporting language and literacy instruction through STEM/STEAM education. Attendees will participate in science, engineering and math activities that also support language, pre-reading and beginning reading strategies. Emphasis will be placed on supporting the integration of skills to provide the most support for early childhood children. Participants will get to see hands-on activities and plan how to best utilize the materials already in their classrooms. There will also be ideas for organizing centers that support these standards. About the Speaker - Jayanti Tambe is a professor of Child Development at De Anza College, Cupertino. She was the Executive Director of UCLA Early Care and Education. She is a published author of the books, 'The Art of Math and Science' and  'A Kaleidoscope of Children'. She is a Peer Reviewer for NAEYC's Higher Education Accreditation. As Assistant Professor and Director of for the Institute for Community Research & Education (Pacific Oaks College), she specialized in Early Childhood Education. As Assistant Professor, Jayanti was credited with creating Pacific Oaks College's  Trauma Specialization in Early Childhood.   Prior to joining the PO faculty, Jayanti served as the Interim Executive Director for Pacific Oaks Children’s School (POCS) where she provided educational leadership, oversaw the day to day operations, and managed all of the children’s programs based on the principles of constructivism and experiential based education. Prior to this, Jayanti was a Master Teacher with POCS since the fall of 2011. Throughout this time she continued her work in the college classrooms of Santa Monica College, De AnzaCollege and Pacific Oaks College. She also served as the director of the Rainbow School and Pepper Tree School at Stanford University. She has taught courses on Child, Family, Community, Music & Movement, Supporting Dual Language Learners in a Multilingual Classroom, Health & Safety, Administration in Early Childhood Education, Business and Fiscal Management, HR Administration in Educational Leadership, among others. Jayanti is experienced in both Title 22 and Title 5 programs. She has worked with the CACFP (Food Program) and has both nationally and internationally demonstrated abilities to adapt teaching methods and materials to students’ individual learning styles and cultural differences. She can speak several languages and considers this to be an asset while working with diverse families. Through her appointment by several national associations, institutes and universities, she has been widely accredited for her innovation in teaching practices.
